Simmo,
Thanks for the comment! Of your suggestions there, I must say that "Sky Blue Sky" was very close to this list. Great to hear someone else suggest that, rather than the "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" release too... I've always felt "Sky Blue Sky" was severely underrated.

Burgo - that's a fun and interesting scroll - if you have some of this on CD format I'd really love a short term listening loan - promise to buy what I like not rip. Many of these are new to me. Those I know are hard to fault, espec. the number one. I note your disclaimer which removes need for debating why Our Endless Numbered Days, Silent Alarm, To The 5 Boroughs, Prairie Wind and Sky Blue Sky don't appear.

Hi Cas,
In reply to that, I'll just point out what I said above about 2009 releases. I've written about Mumford and sons previously (see the post here and another teaser prior to that here).
While I definitely thought "Sigh No More" was a revelation, I'm not quite prepared - yet, at least - to call it one of my top albums of the decade. Who knows, I've been wrong before though... ;)

By the way, for those statistics lovers out there, I tallied up the totals, and here's how the years fared; # Albums per year:

2000 - 6
2001 - 3
2002 - 5
2003 - 10
2004 - 6
2005 - 8
2006 - 2
2007 - 9
2008 - 7
2009 - 0

Don't take that as a sign that 2009 didn't have any great albums, as there were some crackers. I think it's simply a case that those albums haven't had a chance to show their longevity yet.

Hey Kim,
Thanks for stopping by! Was that from his 2005 tour? Man, that would have been a great show, I'm sure.

What a pleasure to see not one, but two Josh Ritter albums in the one best-of list. I'll never forget seeing him support Martha Wainwright at the Tiv and having him blow her completely off stage with his sheer joy from singing and surprise at the audience reaction. Thanks.
