The Damnwells – The Great Unknown [VIDEO + MP3]

Alex Dezen

Continuing my reignited love with The Damnwells, I was super stoked to catch the premiere of their new music video for the song “The Great Unknown”; a new track from their upcoming record, No One Listens To The Band Anymore, out March 15.

Just as with Werewolves, the video is sparse to the point of being tongue in cheek… but it just seems to suit the tune like a glove. And man, Alex is rocking a great beard.

Thanks to Paste Magazine, you can download the mp3 of the song for free below.

Listen. Love. Support.

Radiohead – Lotus Flower [VIDEO]

So you know how Radiohead’s “King of Limbs” was supposed to launch tomorrow, February 19?

Yeah, turns out they got bored waiting. Because Thom and Co. have already released our first taste of the LP8 album on Youtube, with the video for first single “Lotus Flower”. Thom Yorke’s dancing just gets cooler and cooler…

The Strokes – Under Cover of Darkness

the strokes under cover of darkness

So, in case you hadn’t noticed, yesterday the Strokes released the first single off their “don’t call it a comeback” album, “Angles”, titled “Under Cover of Darkness”.

And hell if it isn’t nice to hear these cats again. “Under Cover of Darkness” is their first tune in over 5 years, and it’s a welcome return, with a decidedly upbeat, off-kilter feel, and an absolutely kickass chorus refrain melody.

You can download “Under Cover of Darkness” for free from the Strokes website (free in return for an email, and – less inviting – mobile number), or you can stream the full thing below.

“Angles” from The Strokes is out March, 2011.

Maggie Eckford – For What It’s Worth

Maggie Eckford

I’d like you to say hello to my new musical crush, Maggie Eckford.

Really, I’m not sure how this girl has passed under my radar until now, especially considering her debut album, “For What It’s Worth” actually came out in 2010. So, on that count, I want to thank Chris over at Bearsuit for putting her in front of me, because man… I am absolutely loving this girl’s tunes.
There’s just something about that voice that runs like honey, in the best kind of way.

Below is the newly-released video for the track, “Asleep”, and underneath that is – for me – the stand out track of the entire album, “For What It’s Worth”.
Seriously, keep your eye on Maggie Eckford… I can’t see this girl not blowing up.

Listen. Love. Support.
