Late December Update: Unfortunately, after months of fighting with the RIAA amongst others, Mixwit, the site that I used to embed the below playlist, has had to close down. This means that the below playlist is no longer operating, but you can still read about the bands and follow the links to their individual posts below [...]
… and Burgo’s Blog is no different. Yes, I’m putting together a “Best of 2008″ post, which is why things are a bit quiet around here. I promise, an update is coming soon. (Oh yes, and as an aside… remember how in this post about William Fitzsimmons I said that I was sure I had posted [...]
(Side Note: Apologies for the weird formatting issues in the below post. I’m posting this from the road, and my laptop seems to be acting up a bit. When I’m back at my regular computer next week, I’ll try and fix it up. For now, I hope you can put up with the changing fonts [...]
While this happened a few days ago, it’s only just been brought to my attention. 13 years on from his disappearance, Richey Edwards of Manic Street Preachers has been declared dead. While it’s really just a legal status at this point, I’m still finding this incredibly depressing. Part of me has always lived in the hope [...]
Honestly, right now I feel like a traitor to myself. Within a day of each other (from tomorrow) both tickets for Coldplay and Ryan Adams & The Cardinals Brisbane shows go on sale. Coldplay tickets are between $110-$140 (!!?) and Ryan Adams & The Cardinals tickets are $75 (which is up about another $20 from [...]
Following on from the Cardinals’ Coffee Shop Show, Ryan Adams & Co. have just released the entire (yes, entire… in other words, close on 30 minutes) 3 Voor 12 set up at cave.cardinology. I really don’t see the need to enter too much in this post here. Honestly, I think I’ve talked about Ryan Adams and [...]
Ian Rogers recently gave the Keynote address at the GRAMMY Northwest MusicTech Summit… and what a Keynote address it was. Ian basically said what we music bloggers have been saying for a long time: online music does not signal the end of the music industry… rather, it signals the end of the CD industry. And [...]
Just so that everyone knows, the mp3s posted here are simply for sampling purposes; like giving you your first hit of something for free. If you like the tunes, then buy the CDs, go to concerts, support the music and the artist. As such, all mp3's will only be available for a limited time before being taken down. To all labels who may have a problem with this, I'm giving YOUR clients more exposure. Think about that. That being said, if you represent an artist that is featured on this blog, and would prefer that an mp3 is removed, then please email me at matthew.edward.burgess [at] gmail.com, and I'll be sure to remove the file immediately.
