Edit: Well, it’s been over two months and I haven’t updated this page yet. So I would guess it’s time.

As I’ve already said, my name is Matt Burgess, or Burgo as most have taken to calling me. I’m a 25 year old guy, originally from South Africa (spent around the first 22 years of my life there), who left to travel the world – Spain, Germany, Sweden, bit of Portugal, the USA (mostly spent time in the NY area), Bermuda, and then landed up here. Here is – for now – Australia.

When I was in South Africa, I was part of a band who (wouldn’t you know it) blew up after I left, called Sitter. However, those years slogging it out getting that band started really opened my eyes to the SA music scene, and how much potential is gone unheard there.
My travels around exposed me to more and more music that doesn’t seem to get heard, and I thought, “Bugger this. This music needs to be heard. People should know about this”.

And thus the blog was born. This blog is about music. It’s about stories. It’s about characters. And it’s about life.

If all of life is a stage (as Shakespeare once said), then I’m damn sure it’s a stage at a music festival.

Second Edit: In the meantime, I’ve since started my own personal site at Matt-Burgess.com. It won’t really be anything except for random babblings that didn’t fit on this music blog, so don’t get too excited… but if you just can’t get enough of me (/sarcasm), then you can check out the site here.

Third Edit: You know, you really don’t want to bother clicking on these links, as this is just a tiny wee experiment here. But the two sites involved in this experiment are two other of mine about Australian Jobs such as Melbourne Nursing  Jobs and another about the 2009 Solo Melbourne Cup for greyhounds. As I say… this is strictly an experiment and won’t be of interest to general readers  : P
